The Winnipeg Design Festival
September 26th to 29th
The Winnipeg Design Festival is the largest annual event of StorefrontMB and the first festival in the province dedicated to the promotion and celebration of local design culture. This year marks the 7th annual festival and will be held from September 26th to 29th. Each year this non-profit festival is curated by a team of curators selected by StorefrontMB.
This year, the theme of Winnipeg Design Festival explores how local identity and memory of the city influences future design. Winnipeg is a unique hub for design talent; incubated by geographic isolation and winter hibernation, strengthened by strong secondary education programs at the U of M, and enhanced by a community of rich creativity. Winnipeg has set its mark on the world stage of architecture, fashion, industrial design, and more with a thriving pool of local designers propelling us into a new era of innovative, thoughtful, and forward thinking ideas. Winnipeg Design Festival aims to showcase the creativity in our city; [RE-] signifies the diversity of design that can be [RE-]imagined, [RE-]created, [RE-]engaged, and [RE-]claimed within the built environment. This year we will be [RE-]claiming spaces throughout the city to [RE-]imagine and [RE-]vitalize them, seeing abandoned and void spaces of the city from a new perspective.

Building Equality in Architecture Prairies
In partnership with Building Equality in Architecture Toronto (BEAT), we are pleased to announce our own prairie region initiative which will hold mentoring events and networking opportunities supporting equality, equity, and diversity in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, interior design, and the construction industry. Through this initiative we will leverage an opportunity for men, women, students and practitioners to connect with women leaders and mentors in our city-building professions in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. BEA Prairies will launch its Winnipeg Chapter at the opening event of the Winnipeg Design Festival.
Come join us.
RE-FORM is sharing inspirational stories that influence and shape design. This is a prequel to an event happening in early 2019, which celebrates women in architecture and design through story telling and networking.
This event has been made possible by the generous support of Prairie Architects Inc. and Public City Architecture Inc.
