2015 Membership Dues & Fees

Invoices for 2015 membership dues and fees will be forwarded by mail during the first week of January. In accordance with the MAA By-Laws, payment must be received in the MAA office by:

a) the last day of February (without penalty); OR

b) the last day of May (with penalty, relative to certain membership classes).

Please note that payment can be made by cheque, money order, bank draft or cash. The MAA office is not in a position to accept any form of plastic.

It should also be noted that members who have not satisfied the mandatory continuing education requirements for the 2012/2014 period (as and where applicable), will be unable to renew their membership in 2015, unless a satisfactory report has been received by the MAA office - and the outstanding condition is removed.

Reappointment Advisory Committee

Professor Ralph Stern's term as Dean, Faculty of Architecture ends on August 31, 2015. Professor Stern has indicated his interest in being considered for reappointment and, accordingly, a committee has been struck to advise the President on his reappointment, as per University policy.

As part of the reappointment process, the Committee is seeking input and advice from relevant constituencies of the University and from members of the external community. I would welcome any comments MAA members may have on his work. Please convey in writing your comments to me through Susan Carvell, Confidential Secretary to the Committee on or before 12 noon, Tuesday, January 13, 2015 by e-mail to or by mail to 210 Administration Building, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2N2.

Please note that all submissions will be shared with Committee members and will be handled in accordance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Manitoba).

Nomination deadline: January 23, 2015

The new efficiency standards affect building envelope, lighting, heating, ventilation, airconditioning, water heating, and electrical systems and, as per MECB Article 1.1.1 .1, will apply to construction of new buildings and additions governed under Part 3 of the Manitoba Building Code. Within the Province of Manitoba, the MECB applies to Part 3 buildings with a permit application date on or after December 1, 2014 as follows:

  • New Buildings
  • Additions
  • Initial tenant improvements in a base building subject to the MECB
