Cool Gardens 2020 Registration Deadline EXTENDED!

Registration forms + Fees: January 7, 2020, 6:00pm CST.
Proposal Deadline: January 15th, 2020 6PM CST

Cool Gardens is a public exhibition of contemporary garden and art installations that offers a shift of sensation for the summer—cooling—as a general theme for public projects in Winnipeg’s downtown. Cool Gardens brings architects, landscape architects, designers, artists, and the public together, cel- ebrating the interface between architecture, urbanism, landscape, and design. The competition will feature locally, nationally, and internationally acclaimed artists and practitioners in the Winnipeg con- text, highlighting the value of art and design in public space.

MCE Deadline and Increased Penalties

The following is directed to all registered and intern members who have MAA as their primary reporting jurisdiction for continuing education activities.

As members know, the new on-line transcript that had been developed as part of the Association’s website was officially launched on July 1, 2018, to coincide with the start of the current 2018/2020 cycle. All activities relative to the current 2018/2020 cycle must be logged in your record on the MAA’s website, if you are required to report in Manitoba, and the deadline for compliance with the current cycle is June 30, 2020.

In light of the implementation of the new MAA transcript, which would eliminate any and all confusion regarding both applicable categories and maximum allocations for each cycle under the MAA’s requirements, major concerns regarding the increasing number of members that were non-compliant for the 2016/2018 cycle and its impact on MAA staff resources and penalties charged by associations elsewhere in Canada, the MAA Council agreed to accept the Continuing Education Committee’s recommendations concerning signficant increased in financial penalties for the 2018/2020 cycle.’

Accordingly, those members who fail to demonstrate compliance with the mandatory continuing education requirements that are applicable to them by June 30, 2020, will be subject to the following penalties / action:

  1. pay an initial penalty of $500 + GST and demonstrate compliance within 45 days following the deadline;
  2. pay an additional penalty of $1,000 + GST and demonstrate compliance within 45 days following (being 90 days after the deadline); and
  3. referral to the Investigation Committee thereafter, for disciplinary action.

We would therefore encourage members who are reporting to the MAA, to ensure that their individual transcripts on the MAA’s website are brought up to date with all relevant activities logged by the June 30th, 2018 deadline. Please note that, provided you know your username and your email address in your individual member’s listing on the MAA website is correct, you can retrieve your password (if necessary) through the website.
